Full bias disclosure. I was a fan of One of the greatest one hit wonder songs “Good vibrations” by Marky Mark and the funky bunch. lol. That song used to fill dance floors in its day.
Allegedly this movie is based on true usage of this mafia goon turned FBI informant rat to go to Mississippi during the 60s to muscle info from KKk white idiots using ANY means necessary.
He is partnered with a black dude who is a “token FBI hire” and he wants to do real investigative work as opposed to being a FBI file clerk/officer.
The Klan murders a prominent black activist and they send in the pair to get justice BY ANY Means.
The violence is EXtreme here. Do not go unless you understand the whole point of the movie is to ask “at what point does vengeance equal justice ? Is breaking the law justified to get real justice for the murdered black people ?
Walhbergs character is a f yes to above. He slowly gets his law abiding partner to see the choice: a. Let corrupt racist white hillbillies terrorize blacks or
b. Torture and beat and kill said white racist rednecks to circumvent their corrupt evil.
The morality and violence take its toll on the black FBI dude after his family is threatened.
So I like the “excessive “. violence because it is intentionally shown to really ask a viewer what “their” boundaries are in this dilemma?
Not for those who do not believe violence is the way but I believe it probably was the only way to combat cowardly white idiots who wore masks in the 60s and did unspeakable violence for the klan.
8.5/10 stars as I know two wrongs don’t make a right and an eye for eye leaves everyone blind but sometimes you have to fight, kill, and torture white racist hillbillies because they are evil.

Could not sit through this horribly violent and lawlessness. Plain hate based no matter if based on true events. Depicts man at his worst animal instinct and godless treatment of others! Had to leave the theater not because I don’t understand the truth of it but because man’s inhumanity to man is not entertainment and not to be tolerated by my money on a movie screen.

So every black actor speaks like they just had root canal, and Elvis dealing with to much freezing . Mark Wahlberg, bought the sun glasses from Donnie Brasco , abracadabra , 70 s mafia , so doing hard work as an actor is a putting a outrageous fake nose , Jimmy Durante. But the violence is great , racist getting their asses kicked , so , OK. Barley .
